Spices

According to an Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries ministry survey, Kenya imports about 80 percent of the spices consumed locally. Herbs and spices remain unexploited in Kenya with processing companies having to rely on imports mainly from India and Zanzibar, a validated report by the Horticultural Crops Development Authority (HCDA) indicates. There is increasing demand for herbs and spices in Kenya, which has led to many Importers joining the Kenyan market. Meffier will be among the importers, with an annual target of 50 containers, imported from Iran, Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria among other countries currently importing into the African market.
